A refined salute to 18th-century English chronometry, the Tourbillon Chronometer No. 36 Tribute Edition by Arnold & Son brings historical precision into the realm of contemporary haute horlogerie.
Why we love it
This Tourbillon Chronometer No. 36 Tribute Edition is a masterfully engineered timepiece, paying homage to John Arnold’s seminal marine chronometer No. 1/36 of 1778. Housed in a polished 46mm stainless steel case, the watch reveals its symmetrical beauty through an openworked dial that places the hand-finished tourbillon and barrel bridge in perfect visual balance.
At its heart is the in-house calibre A&S8600, a hand-wound tourbillon movement offering a 90-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification. Notably, the movement architecture reflects Arnold’s original chronometers, with the tourbillon carriage and gear train layout echoing historical marine instruments.
Visible from both the dial side and the exhibition caseback, the movement reveals refined finishing details such as hand chamfering, polished edges, and circular graining. Complemented by a black alligator leather strap, the Tribute Edition is both a technical statement and a celebration of horological history.
This Arnold & Son Tourbillon Chronometer 36 Tribute Edition 1ETAS.B01A.C113A has visible marks on the case and caseback. The crown and buckle have nicks too. Please note that the leather strap is soiled as well.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
