A 1970s design classic reborn, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 bridges iconic Gérald Genta styling with modern performance, crowned by a rich blue dial that roots it firmly in today’s sports-luxury landscape.
Why we love it
The streamlined 40mm stainless steel case wears sleek and balanced, perched just 10.7mm thick. This IWC Ingenieur's integrated H-link bracelet flows seamlessly into the iconic round bezel secured by five hex screws, giving a stark, architectural presence on the wrist.
The standout vibrant blue dial features a signature grid pattern that plays with light and depth. Luminescent sword hands and applied baton hour markers ensure sharp readability, while the date display at three o’clock adds practicality without clutter.
Inside beats the in-house IWC calibre 32111, offering an impressive 120-hour power reserve, 4 Hz precision, and enhanced magnetism protection thanks to a soft-iron inner case. A convex sapphire crystal shields the dial and resists displacement from pressure drops, reinforcing the watch’s robust build.
Water-resistant to 100 metres, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 is more than a handsome throwback, it’s a polished purpose-driven sports watch that honours its heritage while thriving in modern contexts.
This IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 IW328907 has light scratches on the caseback, bracelet, and clasp. Yet, it is in excellent condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
