A bold salute to precision and performance, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph “Blue Angels®” IW389109 commemorates the famous U.S. Navy flight squadron with vibrant design and robust aviation engineering.
Why we love it
This IW389109 stands out with its 44.5mm case crafted in deep blue ceramic—a lightweight, highly scratch-resistant material that echoes the vibrant livery of the Blue Angels’ F/A-18 jets. Accents of yellow on the chronograph seconds hand, sub-dial hands, and day-date display add bold contrast to the matte blue dial, which is anchored by luminous Arabic numerals and hands for enhanced legibility. At six o’clock, the Blue Angels’ crest is subtly integrated into the small seconds counter.
Inside, the watch is powered by IWC’s in-house calibre 69380 — an automatic, column-wheel chronograph movement offering a 46-hour power reserve. The robust construction also includes a soft-iron inner case for anti-magnetic protection and a titanium caseback for added durability.
Completing the look is a blue rubber strap with textile inlay and a folding clasp, combining comfort with sport-focused design. Water-resistant to 60 metres and limited to 500 pieces per year, the IW389109 is more than a pilot’s watch — it’s a celebration of elite precision and military heritage.
This IWC Pilot’s Watches Blue Angels Edition IW389109 is in very good condition.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
