In 2021, Rolex surprised everyone by presenting the Explorer in a totally unexpected style. Although it shared most details of the previous models, this new reference 124273 looked more luxurious and had a more classic Rolex look thanks to the signature Rolesor construction - a combination of steel and gold. It was a first for Explorer - a sports watch that had been quite straightforward and function-driven throughout its history.

The case measures 36mm in diameter, a size most preferred for Explorer watches. While most of the expanse is steel, touches of yellow gold are found on the smooth bezel, screw-down crown, and bracelet links - in the signature Rolex fashion. The black dial on this watch is designed traditionally with Chromalight powering the characteristic three, six and nine numerals. The Mercedes hands and signature script help complete the dial configuration legibly and attractively.
