The original Chronomat was built in the 1980s for aerobatic squadron pilots, and the Super Chronomat carries that lineage into a 44mm case combining stainless steel and 18k red gold. Ceramic inserts run through the bezel, the chronograph pushers and the crown, a detail that sets the Super Chronomat apart from standard Chronomat builds. The unidirectional ratcheted rotating bezel and screw-locked crown with two gaskets bring water resistance to 100 metres, with a sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides.

The black dial carries a Rouleaux-inspired strap to match, its texture referencing Breitling's own bracelet heritage. Day, date, month and moonphase run across the dial, the four-year calendar mechanism doing the quiet work of tracking leap years without requiring manual correction along the way.
