Celebrating 30 years of the Chronomat, this Airborne is a charming concoction of classic meets contemporary and highlights the expertise of Breitling with carefully considered details.
Why we love it
This Breitling Chronomat Airborne was launched at the Baselworld 2014 to commemorate the collection’s 30th birthday. At the time, it represented a modern and more balanced version of a watch that has garnered invariable reverence and love from pilots and other enthusiasts since its inception in 1984.
Examining this contemporary and the original Chronomats side by side will highlight some evident refinements, the most striking being the bezel. The Arabic numerals on it have been replaced by graduating hash marks with rubber inserts. Further, it carries a brushed finish with a luminous indicator at the 60-minute mark. It is nestled on top of a robust steel case measuring 44mm. Also, it is the case where the classic Breitling personality of the watch shines through with the signature rider tabs on the bezel and the construction of the crown and pushers.
The silver dial of this Chronomat Airborne generates a pleasing presence on the wrist while ensuring high legibility. Sitting on top of the dial are luminous index hour markers and hands. The sub-dials are arranged horizontally in a contrasting black shade, a tachymeter scale marks the outer ring, and the date window hammers home the silver and black colour theme of the dial.
The COSC-certified Breitling calibre 01 is a self-winding automatic movement boasting a power reserve of 70 hours ticking at 28,800bph. The movement is safe inside a closed caseback that bears impressive anniversary engravings.
This Breitling Chronomat Airborne AB01154G/G786-375A shows minor scratches on the case and caseback. Its bracelet and clasp also bear light nicks.
Provenance
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos.
Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card.
A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements.
We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
