A Hublot that sends fans of the OG Big Bang into a frenzy — the Spirit of Big Bang. A spectacular timepiece that reflects the house’s inventive DNA through a singular case shape and a deconstructed dial.
Why we love it
Lending an avant-garde twist to the brand’s most beloved timepiece, the Spirit of Big Bang depicts a natural evolution of the Big Bang watches enabled by Hublot’s strong spirit of innovation and uncompromising style. It captures Big Bang’s favourite elements while enhancing them with contemporary refinements. First introduced in 2014, the collection currently runs the gamut from statement dress watches to chronographs to elevated complications like tourbillon.
This Spirit of Big Bang reference 601.NX.0173.LR features a 45mm barrel-shaped titanium case that, for most wrists, is quite substantial. And in case the conspicuous brushed finish overpowers the watch, there’re touches of the polished finish on the case-bands and bezel to diversify the overall appearance. In addition to the deconstructed dial, the bezel echoes the essence of the Big Bang through the H-shaped screws. The caseback is a display back, allowing the wearer to peep at the movement from both sides.

An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dimensional skeleton dial — the timepiece’s most outstanding element. With so many nuances, the dial is a busy canvas, which is surprising considering how legible the entire look is. The applied indexes and hands are lit by luminous material. At the centre, the movement is exposed with the chronograph counters and date window stationed on top of it, carrying a similar skeletonised design for a cohesive look. The touches of red shade on the dial add cool punctuation.
The calibre HUB4700 is an El Primero automatic chronograph movement. It sports meticulous finishes on both sides and offers a power reserve of 50 hours.

What you should know
While the leather and rubber strap on this Hublot watch is in good condition, the case bears light scuffs at the front and on the back. Please note there are some minor nicks present on the clasp as well.
Provenance
