It comes with a recognisable design aesthetic and a powerful calibre, which was a complete novelty at the time of the watch's release. Yet, the watch remains one of the most underrated models in Rolex's catalogue.

This calibre 3187 was introduced with this reference. It's a superior automatic movement featuring 31 jewels, a blue Parachrom hairspring, the Paraflex shock absorbers, and 48 hours of power reserve. This timepiece comes with a distinctive Polar dial featuring a crisp white dial contrasted by black-rimmed luminous hour markers and hands, a bright orange hand for the second time zone, and a date aperture at three o'clock.
